Russian army dealt staggering £600m loss in just 10 days as air force gets wiped out

Russia’s war effort has faced a staggering £600 million loss in just 10 days as Ukrainian forces continue to wipe out their warplanes.

The air force has been handed an embarrassing setback at the hands of Ukrainian soldiers, who destroyed the planes costing £611 million.

Ukraine’s defence ministry announced on Wednesday that their forces had destroyed two Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers, bringing the total to 10 losses is as many days.

They also claimed to have taken out two SU35 jets, costing £34 million each, and an A-50U AWACS reconnaissance plane, costing £260 million.

Ukraine’s Air Force Commander posted a warning to Russian troops on Telegram: “I advise the occupiers to see their relatives before each flight, just in case. Because who knows, he will be lucky or not this time.”

He urged Vladimir Putin to reconsider his “airborne meat assaults” given how unsuccessful they have been so far, not just in the past 10 days, but throughout the war.

Ten days prior to his warning, Ukraine wiped out nine Russian war planes, dealing them a loss of over £341 million. Then, on February 23, another significant loss came in the form of a destroyed Russian spy plane, costing £270 million and leaving them with only six left.

These losses will severely hinder Russia’s ability to find targets for missile strikes and monitor Ukrainian battlefield deployments, as their aerial reconnaissance units continue to fail.

The Ukrainian victories come as the war enters its third year and follow Russia’s recent seizure of Avdiivka – their first major victory in nearly a year.

Ukraine has been able to deploy advanced air defence weapons after being given them in aid packages, posing a significant threat to the Russian air force.

However, they are still lobbying for more aid and support, with Volodymyr Zelensky warning that “millions will die” without it as Russia continues to hold it’s line and make gains in the east.
