Royal Mail unveils Spice Girls stamp collection for band's 30th anniversary

If you asked fans of the Spice Girls what they want, what they really, really want then they would probably go for a set of stamps to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the band.

Which means they’re in luck, as Royal Mail has announced it will issue the collection celebrating one of the world’s most successful pop groups.

The Spice Girls are the first all-female band to feature in a dedicated stamp issue and only the sixth music group.

They follow on from The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Rolling Stones and Iron Maiden. Fans of Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Melanie Chisholm and Melanie Brown will be able to buy a main set of 10 stamps of images from performances – including the 1997 Brit Awards with Geri in her famous Union Flag dress – and the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics.

The set also includes a further five stamps, presented in a miniature sheet, featuring individual images from the Spice World photoshoot, showing each band member with her nickname.

The band said: “We are so excited to be celebrated by Royal Mail, alongside some of the most iconic and influential music legends. That’s Girl Power!”

A pack of all 15 stamps goes on sale on January 11 at £19.65.
