Royal Family LIVE: King Charles spent more time with Princess Beatrice than Prince Harry

King Charles has been reported to have “spent more time” with Princess Beatrice and her husband than Prince Harry, a royal expert has said, after Buckingham Palace announced his cancer diagnosis. The comment comes after Prince Harry flew from California to London to meet his father for just 45 minutes this week.

On Monday, the news about King Charles’s cancer diagnosis was made public, just 10 days after he underwent a corrective surgery for an enlarged prostate in The London Clinic.

The Duke of Sussex arrived at Clarence House on Tuesday (February 6) and his meeting with the King is believed to have lasted for 30-45 minutes. He has now returned to the States to be with his wife Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Daily Mail’s Diary editor Riched Eden dismissed the scope of reconciliation between the royal family and said: “It soon became clear, however, that Prince William had “no plans” to see Harry, who left Britain after just 24 hours, having paid to stay in a hotel rather than sleep in one of the many royal residences in London.

“On hearing the news that his father was unwell, Prince Harry issued a statement on Monday that he would be flying to see him. This was done “with almost indecent haste”. The bulletin came scarcely half an hour after Buckingham Palace had announced that King Charles was suffering from cancer and had begun treatment. Prince Harry’s statement provoked countless articles this week urging the Prince of Wales to use the opportunity of his brother’s visit to mend fences, for the sake of their father.

“The King met Harry at Clarence House for little more than half an hour. This was, I can reveal, less time than His Majesty spent with Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, the previous day. To me, the pressure on William to welcome his brother back into the fold seems grossly unfair.”
