Rishi Sunak humiliated as new poll gives Labour its biggest lead since Liz Truss

Keir Starmer has secured another record poll lead over the Conservatives this morning, as YouGov finds Labour is now a whopping 30 points ahead of Rishi Sunak.

The new poll gives Labour its biggest lead over the Tories since Liz Truss was Prime Minister, as Sir Keir’s party surges to nearly one in two voters saying they will vote for him at the election.

YouGov finds 48 percent now back Labour, up four points on its last poll.

Meanwhile the Tories stay flat on just 18 percent support. Labour’s boost comes from supporters of minor parties, with the LibDems down one percent, Reform down two percent and the Greens down one percent.

Labour hasn’t seen such a huge lead since October 2022, the week of Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng’s mini budget.

The poll also sees voters ignoring Mr Sunak’s warnings that Britain is heading for a hung parliament, with just 14 percent agreeing with the PM’s forecast.

By contrast, 66 percent of those polled say they expect a Labour majority, compared to just five percent predicting a Tory majority.

The poll is yet another blow to the beleaguered Prime Minister, who in the last 24 hours has seen yet another of his MPs defect to Labour and the former Chancellor Nadhim Zahawi join the 65-strong exodus of Conservative MPs.
