It’s everyone’s most dreaded chore—cleaning the oven. Ovens can get filthy fast with grease, grime and food debris often baked on for weeks before you can muster the courage to get scrubbing.
However, a woman has shared her method for getting her oven sparkling in minutes. Plus, she says you don’t need harsh chemicals or excessive elbow grease to get it to work. Tanya Mukendi, the ‘Queen of Hacks’, posted a video on her Instagram about this oven cleaning hack, saying it both lifts the grease from your oven and makes it smell fresh. There’s no vigorous scrubbing needed.
In fact, Tanya’s hack calls for only two ingredients, which you likely already have – water and citrus.
To use this method, put your oven on its lowest heat and let it warm up. Pour water and lemon juice or orange peel into an oven-proof roasting tray.
Place the tray into the preheated oven for 20 minutes, then take it out.
Using a clean cloth, dip it into the mixture and use this to wipe the surfaces of your oven—make sure the liquid has cooled enough to not burn your hands.
The grease and grime should melt away.
Tanya also provided an alternative, with the same method but using white vinegar instead of citrus for the same result.
Commenters on the post were thrilled with the results, saying it made the house smell lovely as well as getting the oven clean.
One person wrote: “Love this hack! Smells lush too,” while another said: “Great way to use up orange peel, smells great too.”
