Stafan Watkins, 48, from Warwick, disappeared from his home on the day of King Charles III’s coronation on May 6, 2023, leaving behind a partner and his then-three year old son.
Warwickshire Police made numerous appeals to locate him.
Human remains were discovered in Charterhouse Fields, Coventry, on February 1 during the search for Mr Watkins.
Today, Tuesday, June 10, the force confirmed that the remains were his, following forensic examinations, reports Birmingham Live.
The police are not treating his death as suspicious.
His next-of-kin have been notified and a file will be submitted to the coroner.
Det Insp Gareth Unett, who headed the investigation, said: “We’d like to thank everyone who helped us by sharing our appeals as we tried to find Stefan.
“We know his disappearance struck a real chord in the local area.
“Since Stefan was reported as a missing person, we’ve continually supported his family and strived to get answers for them.
“It’s been a complex and lengthy investigation,” he finally said.
“Although this is not the outcome any of us would have wanted, hopefully his loved ones should now be able to start to come to terms with what has happened”.
