Donald Trump is an individual who remains unaffected by public opinion and poll results, owing to his “very authentic,” nature, says a source close to the US President.

Nile Gardiner, a political commentator acquainted with Mr Trump, cautions against underestimating him, emphasising that the President always stands by his beliefs.

However, many across the political divide have expressed scepticism towards the world leader, leading to accusations of bullying, unpredictability, and insensitivity.

Despite this, Mr Gardiner, who first encountered Mr Trump in 2019 during his initial presidential term, stated: “This extraordinary memory for names and faces, and ability to make people feel special, is part of the sharp intelligence and charisma of a man all too often vilified by his critics as a bull in a diplomatic china shop.”

He added: “His modus operandi is very deliberate, with a clear rationale behind it. By adopting the positions he does, he forces people to think outside the box and lays the ground for a deal.”

This week, Mr Trump delivered a two-hour discourse to Congress, where he lauded Elon Musk, his advisor and the world’s wealthiest man, and oddly criticised his predecessor Joe Biden over the escalating price of eggs.

Since assuming office, President Trump has maintained a bold stance on the Ukraine conflict. Despite 44 days of seemingly risk-averse actions, his audacity was on full display when he dismissed Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky from the White House following their meeting to discuss a peace deal, reports The Mirror.

Yet, Mr Gardiner, a former aide to Margaret Thatcher, presents an optimistic perspective on Trump’s approach. Writing for the Daily Mail he remarked, “While Biden, and Barack Obama before him, were cautious and conventional presidents, Trump never hesitates to get on with things and he has a clear vision both for ending the war and ensuring that Ukraine’s long-term security is guaranteed.”

Gardiner contrasted Trump’s genuine leadership style with Biden’s seasoned political demeanor, asserting: “Unlike Biden, a cynical, career politician who always seemed to be somewhat ‘plastic’, Trump is very authentic. The ultimate outsider president, he doesn’t think like typical Washington politicians and, when you’re in the room with him, you know that he really believes what he’s saying.”

The commentator didn’t shy away from addressing the contention surrounding Trump, stating: “That, of course, is often controversial and has won him many enemies on the Left who mindlessly attack him as an unthinking bully. If they want to persist in that misguided view, then that is their prerogative but I would offer them one piece of advice. Hate Donald Trump all you like but underestimate him at your peril.”
