Teams are frantically searching for Rachel Booth, the missing mum from Cheshire, who vanished on Saturday morning. The 38-year-old was last seen in the early hours of Saturday. Divers and sniffer dogs have joined the urgent hunt for her.
Police are conducting an extensive search operation “following a number of inquiries to trace” her. Here’s everything we know about her disappearance so far.
Rachel, 38, is known as a “lovely” mother from Barnton in Cheshire. Resident Raj Kaur spoke to The Sun, describing her as “a lovely, clever lady” and “very active and very nice.”
Another mum from the vicinity remarked: “I knew her from the school and she was always pleasant – she has three boys at the school.”
She is 5ft 9ins tall, has a slim build, and has blonde hair. She was last seen wearing black leggings and a black top.
Her family last saw her in the Barnton area of Northwich, with a subsequent sighting around 3:50am at Sandiway garage on the A556, roughly five miles away. After a run that took about 45 minutes, Rachel was captured on CCTV purchasing milk and wine at the garage.
This haunting final image shows her clad in her gym gear before she disappeared.
Garage worker Issac Carolan, 19, reported that a colleague who served her mentioned Rachel did not seem “disturbed or flustered” and the interaction was not “weird”.
Police believe she may have headed to the Oakmere area of Delamere, where Cheshire Police officers, underwater search teams and Cheshire Search and Rescue are conducting inquiries and have scoured a lake. A water park in Delamere, less than two miles from the petrol station, announced it was closed on Sunday due to a police investigation in the surrounding area.
The Wild Shore Delamere Park watersports centre released a statement confirming its closure “due to ongoing police investigations in the surrounding area”. The statement continued: “This incident is unrelated to Wild Shore – however, we wish to help as much as possible – so we will be closing the site until further notice.”
Superintendent Paul Hughes expressed growing concern for Rachel’s welfare, stating: “We are currently following a number of inquiries to trace Rachel and we are becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare.”
He added that as part of the investigation, various agencies, including the Underwater Search Team and Cheshire Search and Rescue, are looking into areas where Rachel is believed to have travelled, thanking local businesses for their cooperation during the ongoing inquiries.
He said: “Investigators are following all lines of inquiry and anyone who has seen Rachel since she was reported missing is asked to contact us. The same goes for anyone who has any information on her whereabouts.
“We would also like to appeal directly to Rachel to get in touch to let us know you are OK.”
Anyone with information is urged to reach out to Cheshire Police by dialling 101 or via the force’s website, citing IML-2136439.
