Queen Mary of Denmark’s outfit made a subtle nod to her husband King Frederik on his accession day on Sunday, January 14.
The Australian-born royal joined her husband on the balcony of Christiansborg Castle to mark the start of his reign.
Opting to channel Queen Camilla on King Charles’s Coronation day last year, Queen Mary stepped out in an elegant white gown.
The gown was a bespoke Soeren Le Schidt off-white midi dress sewn by Birgit Hallstein.
According to Copenhagen magazine Billed Bladet, the dress bore resemblance to her wedding dress back in 2004. The dress was also sewn by Birgit Hallstein – who also stitched her wedding gown.
Taking to a post by @royalfashionpolice on Instagram, royal fans expressed their thoughts on the Danish Queen’s gown and they rushed to compliment her.
One fan wrote: “She looks amazing! Very regal.”
Another said: Absolutely perfect and befitting of her new status [heart-eyed emoji].”
A third wrote: “She look absolutely incredible!! It was such a regal look!.”
Copenhagen-based brand Soeren Le Schidt previously told HOLA! USA: “I am very honoured, happy and grateful that Queen Mary wore my dress today. The first dress as a Queen, and it was mine.”
The Danish Queen wore her hair in an elegant bun, revealing her glittering Danish Ruby Parure earrings.
As well as paying a nod to her husband and their wedding day, the colour of the gown also bares significance.
The colour white symbolises a dawn of new beginnings, purity and simplicity. This is undoubtedly a nod to the start of her and King Frederik’s reign.
The former Queen Margrethe II announced her decision to abdicate on New Year’s Eve, with her reign ending on January 14.
The date also symbolised the start date of her own long-standing reign in 1972.
King Frederik and Queen Mary made a joint appearance on the balcony of Christiansborg Palace with their four children.
