Queen Elizabeth's blunt reply to Harry and Meghan's request for staged Lilibet picture

The late Queen Elizabeth II reportedly posed a very blunt reply to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s request involving their young daughter.

In June 2022, Princess Lilibet marked her first birthday in the UK – as well as being present for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

During her first – and, so far, only – visit to the UK, Lilibet was able to meet her namesake great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

According to multiple reports, Harry and Meghan wished to mark the sweet meeting with a photograph of their daughter and the late Queen. However the late Queen was firm in her decision to not let this happen and is said to have bluntly told Meghan and Harry, ‘no’.

An insider told The Sun: “Harry and Meghan wanted their photographer to capture the moment Lilibet met the Queen. But they were told no chance. It was a private family meeting.”

Despite no longer being senior royals at the time, Meghan and Harry previously surprised royal fans when they named their daughter Lilibet.

Princess Lilibet, now two, was born in 2021 and is the younger sister of Harry and Meghan’s four-year-old son, Prince Archie.

Opening up about the late Queen’s reaction to finding out Lilibet’s name, author Robert Hardman wrote how “angry” she was – especially after the couple claimed they had got her permission to use her very-personal nickname.

Lilibet had been Elizabeth II’s nickname since childhood and was even sweetly used by her late husband, Prince Philip.
