Queen Camilla's 'perfect revenge' on 'embarrassed' Meghan Markle after new venture

Queen Camilla will get her “perfect revenge” on Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, and barely need to lift a finger, a royal expert has claimed.

The Queen officially launched her first podcast, The Reading Room, a much-anticipated companion to her book club, on Monday, January 8. While the book-loving Queen doesn’t host the show herself, she does join in during some episodes, which capture discussions between herself and a collection of high-profile guests.

Royal fans and experts have already started comparing the new podcast to a now-defunct project by the Duchess of Sussex, who famously launched a show of her own in 2022.

But, according to one royal analyst, the Queen’s will likely see far more success and deal a blow to the Duke and Duchess in an industry they have tried and failed to capture.

Speaking to GB News, Denise Palmer Davies, the director of PR at the Borne Media agency, said the podcast will give her a chance to “get her own back” on the couple.

Prince Harry’s smash-hit biography, Spare, which was released last year, negatively portrayed his stepmother as calculating, drawing widespread criticism but no response from the Royal Family itself.

The new podcast, Ms Davies said, could allow the Queen to find success where her stepson couldn’t and exact indirect revenge. She said: “After all the hurtful things Harry has said about Camilla, she has finally got her own back on them.”

“If her podcast does well, and I am sure it will, she will have achieved in an area they so desperately wanted to succeed in, then that is the perfect revenge.

“I bet Meghan, in particular, will be livid over the whole thing, and probably a bit embarrassed that hers fell at the first hurdle.”

The Duchess of Sussex famously launched her Archetypes podcast – which was acquired as a Spotify original – in 2022, but it was cancelled after just one season.

While she welcomed A-lister guests like Mariah Carey, Serena Williams and Paris Hilton, they were unable to keep the project afloat, and Archetypes ended after just 12 episodes.

A representative for the Duchess’ talent agency, William Morris Endeavor (WME), said the team was proud of what they had accomplished, and that Meghan planned to “develop more content for the Archetypes audience on another platform”.

But the show is yet to find a new home, while the Queen is fast settling into her new role on the airwaves.
