Queen Camilla's pays sweet subtle tribute to late Queen Elizabeth with outfit

Her Majesty Queen Camilla is presenting five Buchan Medals to serving and retired Royal Lancers at the base in Catterick Garrison, and during the royal event she has paid a touching tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.

For the event, which was Camilla’s first visit to the regiment since being appointed as Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Lancers, she wore a beautiful blue outfit with gold buttons designed by Fiona Clare. It was modelled on the Lancers uniform, with a bright red mandarin collar and chain mail on the shoulders.

A special brooch – the Royal Lancers brooch, which once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II, was worn on Camilla’s hat in a touching nod to the late reigning monarch.

Camilla’s appointment follows a long Royal history with the Regiment because Queen Elizabeth was appointed Colonel in Chief of the 16th/5th Lancers by her father on her 21st birthday, April 21, 1947.
