Queen Camilla's emotional admission she 'misses Paul O'Grady' in tribute to fallen star

Queen Camilla delivered an emotional admission that she “misses Paul O’Grady” as she made a touching tribute to the late TV star.

Famous fans of the iconic celebrity, who sadly passed away in March earlier this year, are set to join in paying tribute to Paul during the special Boom Radio show.

Among them to express their sadness over Paul’s passing will be Queen Camilla, who was a close friend of the star’s due to his work in championing dogs.

In tribute to Paul, Camilla issued a note that describes how she “misses Paul very much”, and the “pleasure” she got in knowing him for many years.

She recalled how she “laughed at his waspish way with words” and was “touched by the kindness of his heart”.

Camilla continues: “He was the most welcome guest at any event, from glamorous parties to private visits to our beloved Battersea, and was loved by one and all.”

In the note read out by the show’s host, Julian Clary, she adds: “Perhaps this is no surprise.

“After all, there are no finer judges of character than dogs, and about Paul, they were unanimous in their devotion, as were we all.”

News rocked TV fans this year when it was revealed Paul had passed away at the age of 67.

Together with Camilla, Paul was a champion for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

In a statement at the time of his death, Buckingham Palace said Camilla would share her sympathies with Paul’s family in private.

On X, formerly Twitter, the Royal Family too paid its own tribute, issuing a picture of Camilla alongside Paul.

The post added: “Deeply saddened to hear of the death of Paul O’Grady, who worked closely with Her Majesty in support of Battersea, providing lots of laughter and many waggy-tailed memories.”

After spending years as one of Britain’s most love comedians, he began to share his love of dogs with the country through his hit show For the Love of Dogs.

In 2012, he became an ambassador for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, and the organisation hailed him as a “champion for the underdog”.

The tribute show will see the likes of Paul’s producer Malcolm Prince, as well as TV royalty such as Dawn French and Jo Brand offer their unique insight into who the star was.

It will air between 12pm and 2pm on Boom Radio on Christmas Day.
