Queen Camilla serves up Haribo, bangers and mash and cupcakes at Clarence House

Guests at Clarence House today were treated to some rather unexpected yet delicious treats as they joined Queen Camilla to decorate the Christmas tree at Clarence House.

The Queen hosted one of the Royal Family’s most heart-warming and festive engagements of the year, as she invited children helped by Helen & Douglas House and the Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity into her home for a Christmas suprise.

Both organisations help to provide care and support for terminally and seriously ill children, who after decorating the tree were treated to a feast of sausages and mash smiley faces, cupcakes and even some Haribo sweets.

The fun didn’t end there though, as the children also got the chance to meet Father Christmas, who kindly brought along his reindeer Dancer and Blitzen to join in the fun.

Speaking at last year’s event, Queen Camilla said: “It’s always a treat for me to start the Christmas season here. It literally kicks it off for us.”

During their visit, the children enjoyed a performance by the Band and Bugles of The Rifles, with equerry Major Ollie Plunkett also entertaining the crowds by impressively placing a Christmas decoration on the tree with his sword.

This year’s honour marks the 17th time that children supported by the charity and their hospice staff have been invited to help kickstart the Christmas celebrations.

As patron of both charities, Camilla opened up about how much the opportunity to interact with the children means to her and the family.

Prince William and Princess Kate will naturally bring their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, to the Norfolk estate, close to their own country retreat Anmer Hall.

Royal fans will be excited to catch a glimpse of the brood walking to and from St Mary Magdalene Church for their annual Christmas Day service.

This year Camilla’s own children, Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes, will also be bringing their own families to Sandringham for the celebrations.
