Princess Kate's sweet mum gesture to Prince George that went horribly wrong

As Princess Kate recovers in hospital it could be that she has another go at a skill known to relax people. The princess has been recovering from planned abdominal surgery in hospital at Marylebone’s London Clinic.

Buckingham Palace announced that Kate, 42, is not expected to carry out official engagements until after Easter, meaning she might have more time for smaller hobbies that allow for rest and recuperation.

And knitting could fit the bill perfectly – but Princess Kate has previously admitted that it’s a skill she struggles to master. When she was pregnant with her oldest son Prince George, now 10, attempted to make him a knitted gift.

According to Hello! she told a group of royal fans while visiting Glasgow: “I’ve been trying to knit and I’m really bad. I should be asking for tips!”

In 2020, during a trip to Bradford, Kate visited Older Yet Wiser which is an organisation that supports grandparents.

There she met with some grandmothers who were showing off their crocheting skills but confessed that her attempts to knit George a jumper had completely failed.

She told the group: “I tried knitting when I first had George. I tried to knit him a very special jumper, but I got halfway down and it splattered. It’s such an amazing skill.”

Prince William has issued a firm message to Princess Kate during her recovery following the planned surgery.

Following the hospitalisation of the future Queen on January 17, William postponed all of his royal duties and royal expert Jennie Bond told OK! she believes this is a clear message to Kate he is putting her first.

She explained: “William choosing not to do engagements is completely in line with their view that they make the family the most important thing as much as they possibly can.

“They prioritise their family life, and I always applaud them for doing that. This is a time when the kids are going to need their dad more than ever, with their mum in hospital, so he’s going to be there to reassure them.”

Princess Kate isn’t the only royal who has medical news as soon after her surgery was announced, it was revealed that King Charles was having prostate surgery at the same hospital.
