Princess Kate's savage nickname for Prince William only she could get away with

Princess Kate’s rather savage nickname for Prince William has been revealed, as surely only his wife would be allowed to tease him about his appearance. The Princess apparently calls him ‘Prince Baldy’ in reference to his lack of hair, although earlier in the relationship she reportedly preferred the cheeky nickname ‘Big Willy’ for him.

William’s first nickname came when he was aged just two, after he joined his parents Prince Charles and Princess Diana for a royal tour around Australia.

In 2007, he told NBC’s Matt Lauer: “When we went to Australia with our parents, and the wombat, that’s the local animal. So, I just basically got called that. Not because I look like a wombat, or maybe I do.”

Now as an adult his cousin Zara Tindall’s husband Mike has recently let slip that he calls the future King ‘One Pint Willy’ as he is “not the best of drinkers”.

The Tindalls were appearing on a podcast episode with rugby player Rob Burrow, where Mike explained: “For the Prince of Wales, he is known as One Pint Willy.

“He is known to me as One Pint Willy because he is not the best of drinkers, coming from a sport where it is built on the social aspect and a couple of beers being sunk quite often. That is one I will give away for the Prince of Wales.”

It is known that William and his younger brother Prince Harry used to call each other ‘Willy’ and ‘Harold’, as the Duke of Sussex regularly made reference to those names in his autobiography Spare.

Princess Kate previously revealed on a visit to her old school, St Andrew’s in Berkshire that she was called ‘Squeak’ while her sister Pippa Middleton was ‘Pip’.

She said: “I was nicknamed Squeak just like my guinea pig. There was one called Pip and one called Squeak because my sister was called Pippa and I was Squeak.”

Their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis also all have affectionate pet names, which their parents have been heard using on a few occasions.
