Princess Kate to focus on 'healing' as she renounces royal peacemaker role in Sussex feud

Kate, the Princess of Wales will renounce the coveted role of royal peacemaker to focus on “healing” after the multiple swipes Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have taken over the years, a royal expert has claimed.

The senior royal was repeatedly accused of failing to make the Duchess of Sussex feel welcome when she joined the Royal Family, with author Omid Scobie describing her as “cold” and very keen to please the royal establishment.

While Scobie insisted Harry and Meghan did not contribute to his book with personal anecdotes, the couple have not addressed the egregious claims the author, who has been said to be a close acquaintance, made.

Commentator Kinsey Schofield noted that despite Scobie denying any collaboration, Harry and Meghan continue to appear “too close” to Endgame – making it hard for Kate to consider brokering a peace deal between the Duke and her husband.

Following the Sussexes’s departure in 2020, the Princess of Wales had been tipped to take on a peacemaker role and use her close relationship with Harry to broker a peace deal.

But the To Di For Daily founder argued too much has now been said for Kate to consider personally pursuing negotiations with Harry and Meghan.

She told GB News: “She [Kate] was very unfairly called out by Omid Scobie. I believe unfairly. She’s got some healing to do at this point in time.”

Schofield added: “If you read some of the books that have been published since Meghan entered the Royal Family and we give Omid Scobie any credit, he discusses how certain people didn’t reach out to Meghan, but we know they did.

“If we read between the lines, Meghan’s animosity came from wanting the attention of Catherine and wanting her to be her buddy, but she was exhausted and overwhelmed.”

Omid Scobie was particularly critical of the Princess of Wales in his latest book, which was released in November.

In addition to claiming she was unwelcoming, he also alleged Kate failed to support the Duchess of Sussex as she struggled with the pressure of royal life.

He said: “There would be moments where Meghan, whether she was liked or not, was at her lowest points, as in her time as a working royal, she’s spoken about those suicidal ideations that she’s had during her pregnancy.

“For Kate, who is a mental health ambassador who champions the early years’s sector, including focus on pregnancy right up until the age of five, you would think that that might have struck a chord with her.

“But there seems to be just this distance that has continued between the two and does to this day.”

He added: “I mean, as far as I know, they haven’t had a proper conversation in a number of years.”
