Princess Kate to be given '£1bn birthday gift' from King Charles as Meghan Markle snubbed

King Charles could be about to bestow upon Princess Kate a very rare privilege that dates back to the 15th century – which very few members of the Royal Family possess.

In order to mark her 42nd birthday on January 9, the “billion-pound gift” from King Charles could see the Princess of Wales become even more influential.

It has been reported in news.com.au, that contrary to the King’s usual tendency to gift jewellery, Princess Kate could be given the power to issue Royal Warrants.

Royal Warrants are official endorsements and a mark that only certain members of the Royal Family can bestow on their chosen brands and suppliers.

These are sought-after marks of honour and a tradition that dates back to the middle ages and allows companies to use the royal coat of arms.

Holding a Royal Warrant, which can be displayed on a business premises, product, packaging, stationary, can offer huge commercial kudos.

Today, there are around 800 holders of Royal Warrants of Appointment representing a huge cross-section of trade and industry, from individual craftspeople to global multinationals. They are united by a commitment to the highest standards of service, quality, excellence, and craftsmanship.

Sources told the Mail Online having the Princess of Wales officially endorsing British businesses would be “almost incalculable”.

One said: “It would be a huge boost to British industry. Interest would go through the roof, particularly in areas such as fashion and lifestyle.”

Another reported issuing a Royal Warrant could be a “grey area” and the final decision rested with Buckingham Palace.

The decision comes as Meghan Markle recently refiled trademarks for “The Tig” which was the name of her personal blog, which she ran before becoming a member of the Royal Family. On the blog, Meghan promoted content on food, fashion, and lifestyle products.

News.com.au reports the “Kate effect” has been valued at more than £1billion, but this new power could have the potential to send sales skyrocketing on products the Princess of Wales decides to endorse.

To mark her birthday, King Charles is also tipped to bestow a new title on his daughter-in-law by appointing her as a Royal Lady of the Order of the Garter – a role many senior royals have.

This title is the oldest and most senior Order of Chivalry in Britain and was first established almost 700 years ago by Edward III. The new appointment would cement her seniority in The Firm and is personally chosen by the monarch.
