Princess Kate was met with heckles from inmates at a women’s prison in Cheshire during a visit on Tuesday.

The future Queen was visiting HMP Styal in Wilmslow, Cheshire, a prison and young offender institution for women aged 18 and over, were she dropped into the facility’s mother and baby unit.

The unit is run Action for Children, a charity the Princess of Wales represents as royal patron.

Kate, 43, was met with a cat calls and a wolf whistle as inmates leaned out of the windows of their cells to watch her walk through the prison grounds, Sky News reports.

Shouts of, “We need more funding. Tell them the truth,” were also heard, as per the outlet.

The royal reportedly appeared undeterred and smiled as she walked past, waving and saying hello to other inmates leaning through the windows of a Portacabin before entering.

The Princess met with former offenders as well as people still serving who had been helped by the charity.

Speaking to staff from the unit, the royal said: “It is great that you are looking at the mother’s wellbeing as well. The best thing for baby is to have a mother whose emotional needs and wellbeing is met as well.”
