Princess Kate appeared to have sent a very powerful message to her estranged sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, on her own birthday earlier this week.
The Princess of Wales celebrated her 42nd birthday on January 9 and reportedly marked the occasion with “low-key” celebrations in Windsor.
As well as supposedly no communication between once-close Prince William and Prince Harry, Kate and Meghan are known to have never really seen eye-to-eye.
Unlike Meghan, Princess Kate is known to share a close bond with the royals – especially her father-in-law, King Charles.
Amid the Sussexes ongoing feud, Princess Kate was recently branded as the King’s “beloved” daughter-in-law – a message sure to upset Meghan.
In conversation with The Sun, royal expert Jennie Bond praised Princess Kate for being a “shining star of a modern monarchy”.
To mark the royal’s 42nd birthday, Ms Bond added: “I think Catherine has embraced her 40s and is now more comfortable in her skin and in her role than ever before. Some women may find their 40s intimidating, but Catherine is successful, confident and popular.”
Speaking of how well Kate has adapted to royal life, she added: “Kate is dividing her time between her children and a big role on the world stage.”
“And she is doing it with composure, dignity and a wonderful common touch. She has nailed being royal and yet still relatable “
Speaking of Charles’s bond with Kate, Ms Bond continued: “It’s no surprise that King Charles refers to her as his ‘beloved daughter-in-law’.”
Prior to her birthday, it was understood that the future Queen would be marking her special day at home with her close family.
The royal is sure to have celebrated the day in Windsor, with a source adding that this is likely due to the fact that “the children are just about to start back at school”.
They added that Kate’s birthday will be “just the family” and that this is just “the way she likes it”.
According to Endgame author Omid Scobie, Meghan and Kate were apparently never really close.
The pair have reportedly had “almost zero direct communication” since 2019.
Writing in Endgame, which was back in November, Mr Scobie wrote: “For Meghan, who found much of her time as a working royal a lonely and isolated experience, there was a hope that Kate would be someone she could at least turn to for an encouraging word during her lowest points, including her emotional difficulties during her pregnancy.
“Kate, however, was uninterested in forming this kind of bond with Meghan.”
