Princess Kate sends clear message as she plans 'to work from bed' after surgery

Princess Kate will reportedly return to Royal duties and will work from her bed as she recovers from major abdominal surgery.

The Princess of Wales, 42, is said to be “doing well” after undergoing surgery at London Clinic near Regent’s Park this week.

She is expected to spend an additional week in the hospital before relocating to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor to recuperate and regain strength following the medical procedure.

Insiders from the palace suggest that the recovering royal is eager to resume work at the earliest opportunity but is currently balancing childcare responsibilities for her three children with her husband, Prince William.

A royal insider mentioned that the Prince and Princess of Wales are currently prioritising family over their professional commitments, aiming to maintain a sense of normality for Prince George, aged 10, Princess Charlotte, aged 8, and Prince Louis, aged 5.

A source told The Times: “The kids are always at the center of their universe. That will continue to be the case. They want to make sure they have as much normality as possible going forward.”

The announcement follows efforts by palace officials to dispel rumours suggesting that Prince William was set to become the first British monarch in five centuries to sever official connections with the Church of England.

Throughout the week, there was widespread speculation within royal circles regarding whether the future king would assume the title of “Supreme Governor” of the Church of England upon ascending to the throne.

Princess Kate’s recovery coincides with King Charles facing health challenges of his own, as his Royal Highness is scheduled to undergo treatment for an “enlarged prostate” during a hospital visit next week.

Aides assure that the King’s condition is “benign”, and he will undergo a corrective procedure.

The Princess of Wales is expected to maintain a work approach aligned with her recovery after being discharged from the private London Clinic.

She recently initiated a campaign named Shaping Us, focused on raising awareness about the significance of the first five years of a child’s life.

While she won’t be engaging in official commitments and her schedule will be cleared, there is a strong likelihood that she will continue to express interest and involvement in her various campaigns.

“Her commitment to the early years is evident, and there will be a significant continuation of that campaign. She is eager to engage in ongoing conversations with the nation at the earliest opportunity,” said an aide to The Times.

Meanwhile, engagements with the Princess of Wales’ 30 charities and patronages are undergoing cancellations, rescheduling, or postponements during her recovery period. Additionally, an official visit to Italy, originally planned for March, has been deferred.

The Princess of Wales undertook 134 official engagements last year, while William took 179.
