Princess Kate now UK’s most popular royal in blow to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Kate, Princess of Wales has been deemed the UK’s most popular royal – a major blow to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

According to a new poll by GovUK, the 42-year-old was favoured by 76 percent of the total of 2,004 adults polled for the results.

The latest popularity result for the royal – who is currently undergoing cancer treatment – is up by six points since the start of the year.

The Prince of Wales appears to have a similar favourability to his wife, with his result standing at 73 percent.

Princess Kate’s result is set to be a major blow for Harry and Meghan, with their results majorly different from those of their sister-in-law.

Harry has been favoured by 31 percent of those polled, and Meghan by only 21 percent.

Those polled not in favour of Princess Kate stands at just 15 percent, compared to Harry’s result for those not in favour – which stands at 61 percent.

The Princess of Wales has been taking some time away from the royal spotlight since the start of the year.

The mother-of-three first underwent planned abdominal surgery in January and, although her condition was first thought to be non-cancerous, cancer was found during post-operative tests.

The 42-year-old shared her shock cancer diagnosis to the world last month, addressing the nation in an emotional video.

Kate said: “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful.

“However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

She went on to say: “This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment.”

Kate also shared that she had been “taken time” to share the news with her three children – Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five.

The royal added: “…It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok.”

Assuring the public, Kate said that she is “getting stronger every day”. She continued: “As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits.”
