Princess Kate 'ignored at school gates' as dads way more interested in another mum

Given her status as Princess of Wales, Kate often turns heads – but not everywhere, according to some parents. When Prince George and Princess Charlotte attended Thomas’s Battersea day school in southwest London, Princess Kate would often drop them off to give them as close to a “normal” childhood as possible.

You’d think therefore that she would be the centre of attention. However, it turned out that the future Queen was not the star of the school run – as one of the other mums was a Victoria’s Secret model.

An anonymous source told the Mail: “No one really gives Kate a second glance when she does the school drop-off. We have a Victoria’s Secret model doing the school run too, and the dads are far more interested in her.”

Whether or not she was the dad’s favourite, Kate’s desire to get stuck in as a mum is inherent to her character. One royal source told OK! Magazine: “She [Kate] comes from a supportive family so she’s very keen on family networks and networks of friends and organisations. As parents, they are also very good at rolling up their sleeves and helping out with school events; sports days, fundraisers, and that sort of thing. They try to just be like normal parents with normal parenting challenges.”

Duncan Larcombe, an esteemed royal commentator, also told OK! that Kate’s own upbringing was a “template” for her three kids.

He said: “She’s a very hands-on mum, so she always makes sure she’s the one going with the children to buy school shoes as well as stocking up on school stationary. Everything is very straightforward with William and Kate. Aside from the school fees, they’re bringing up their children in a quintessentially British middle-class way.”

It comes as Kate’s children were in the spotlight during the Christmas Carol service she put on at Westminster Abbey.

The little royals were chic and stylish in colour-matched festive outfits, as they made their way to the Abbey. Prince George looked sharp in a navy suit, Princess Charlotte stepped out in an adorable maroon coat, paired with navy blue tights, as well as navy blue patent shoes.

The youngest, Prince Louis, showed himself to be quite the fashionista, as he sported a navy blue jacket and a maroon-coloured jumper underneath. His look was capped off with a pair of matching trousers and navy blue chelsea boots.

The service will be broadcast on ITV1 and ITVX on Christmas Eve at 7.45pm.
