Princess Kate breaks tradition again with Princess Charlotte's birthday

Prince William and Princess Kate’s only daughter, Princess Charlotte, celebrates her ninth birthday today, and fans have been looking forward to the annual birthday photo the family release of each child on their special day.

However, the Prince and Princess of Wales broke tradition last week when Prince Louis turned six, and it seems like they could be planning the same approach this time to release an image today.

The royals usually release images for their children’s birthdays under embargo the day before, but when Louis turned six, a new picture was posted straight to social media on the young prince’s actual birthday instead.

In previous years Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Louis’s birthday is marked with the release of a new official photograph, with his mum Kate usually the one behind the camera.

Royal fans are hoping Kensington Palace will release a photo of the young Princess today to mark her birthday, and to celebrate when the royal entered the world on May 2, 2015.

Social media user, @mofoman360, wrote on X they “couldn’t wait” to see the Princess’s official birthday photo, adding “Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana is growing up so fast.”

Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana was born at 8.34am on May 2, 2015 at St Mary’s Hospital in London, the location of many royal births over the years.

She joined her older brother Prince George, who was born on July 22, 2013, with the youngest member of the clan Prince Louis later arriving on April 23, 2018.
