Princess Anne's £25k engagement ring has a secret benefit that far outweighs Meghan's

Princess Anne’s £25k engagement ring has been awarded with the honour of most eco-conscious celebrity engagement ring, according to new data collected by ethical jewellery brand Kiaash.

Her diamond from her second marriage to Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, whom she wed in 1992, has the lowest carbon footprint of all the royal engagement rings, with Queen Camilla and Meghan Markle also making the top 10.

Anne’s ring has a carbon footprint of 1,299kg, with the carat, setting material and complexity of each setting of each ring being analysed to give the result.

The Princess Royal’s engagement ring is five carats, a gorgeous cabochon-cut blue sapphire and diamond ensemble with the sapphires being sourced in a more carbon-friendly way than other stones.

Meghan’s ring came in fifth on the list, with a carbon footprint of 1,646kg while Camilla placed tenth as her ring has a carbon footprint of 2,419.2kg.

Queen Camilla’s engagement ring from King Charles also features a charming link to another late female family member, as the emerald-cut diamond is thought to have belonged to the Queen Mother.

The addition of family heirlooms helps to keep the carbon footprint lower, an important factor for the King and Queen, with the ring itself worth up to £300k.

Today, April 9, Charles and Camilla are celebrating their 19th wedding anniversary, although the celebrations are likely to be quite subdued due to his ongoing cancer treatment.

In 2022 Camilla told British Vogue about her marriage: “It’s not easy sometimes, but we do always try to have a point in the day when we meet.

“Sometimes it’s like ships passing in the night, but we always sit down together and have a cup of tea and discuss the day … You know when we go away, the nicest thing is that we actually sit and read our books in different corners of the same room. It’s very relaxing because you know you don’t have to make conversation. You just sit and be together.”

The couple live together at Charles’s Gloucestershire estate Highgrove and their London home Clarence House, however the King has been spending time at Sandringham while he recuperates.
