Prince William’s former senior aide has spoken out about the royal’s feud with his estranged brother, Prince Harry, and gave a five-word verdict on it.
The Duke of Sussex has become distant from his brother, the Prince of Wales, following his departure from the Royal Family and a series of claims he and his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, have made against the Firm.
Neither William nor any other member of the Royal Family has commented on the Sussexes’s claims.
Now Jason Knauf, who worked for both the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has finally opened up about the two feuding brothers in a new bombshell interview.
Speaking on 60 Minutes Australia, the former royal staffer spoke about his time at Kensington Palace.
In one segment, he revealed that the future King has decided to be “private” about it and those close to him have come to accept that.
But he also gave a very telling, five-word verdict on the brothers’ relationship, saying: “It’s been hard and sad.”
Mr Knauf said: “It’s very difficult to have this stuff play out in the public eye, but he’s [Prince William] chosen to keep his thoughts on it private, and I think all of us who know him really have to respect that we should do the same.
“But I will say, of course, it’s been hard and sad, especially for all of us who know both of them.”
Mr Knauf worked for Prince William and Princess Kate from 2015 to 2022 and also for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle when they were working royals.
He was also formerly chief executive of William and Kate’s Royal Foundation, stepping down at the end of 2021.
His good relationship with Prince William was evident in 2023, after he was made a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order (RVO) in the New Year Honours List.
