Prince William ‘won’t be fazed’ by parenting duties as Princess Kate recovers from surgery

The Prince of Wales “wont be fazed” by the prospect of looking after his three young children, full-time, while Princess Kate recovers from her abdominal surgery.

A source who knows the Wales family spoke about how Prince William is capable of holding the fort well at home as he carries out his fatherly duties – including dropping Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, off at Lambrook School in Bracknell.

Speaking to Hello! Magazine, the source said: “He is a regular at the school gate and events and he’s very hands-on as a dad, so being in charge while Kate is away won’t faze him.”

They added: “They often do things as a full family unit and he’s very confident looking after the kids.” The Wales children are pupils at Lambrook School, which is close to their home in Windsor, a school which requires them to go to class from Monday to Saturday.

The source claimed: “Everyone was very shocked and concerned when they heard [about Kate’s surgery]. The Lambrook parents are a close-knit group and William and Kate have absolutely become part of it, so I’m certain their class groups will be rallying round to offer any help they can.”

It is understood that William wants to continue doing the school run in an effort to create as much normality as he can for his children.

Last week, the Royal Family announced the Princess of Wales had undergone planned abdominal surgery and had been advised to rest for up to three months.

Following the announcement, it was confirmed that Prince William will not take any official duties and has postponed a number of engagements while his wife is in hospital. Royal aides will provide the Prince with a revised schedule in due course.

Prince William will also have support from their nanny, Maria, and Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, who live in Bucklebury village about a 40-minute drive away.

Editor in chief of Majesty magazine, also told Hello! that William is an incredibly helpful husband: “William is incredibly supportive as a husband. It’s pretty unusual for the Prince of Wales to cancel engagements because his wife isn’t well – that certainly wouldn’t have happened in the past – but he’s a modern man whose family is more important to him than anything else.”

Meanwhile, King Charles is said to be in the capital ahead of his procedure this week. He is being treated for an enlarged prostate, openly announced by Buckingham Palace last week.

Buckingham Palace said the King’s condition is benign and that the procedure is “corrective” and that His Majesty will be stepping back from public duties for a short time while he recovers. This includes cancelling important meetings that were in his diary.

It is thought King Charles decided to go public with his diagnosis in a bid to get other men experiencing symptoms to get themselves checked out.
