Prince William sparks fan frenzy as he unveils his return to royal duties

Prince William will return to work this week after taking a break from royal duties following his wife’s cancer diagnosis and fans who have “missed” the Prince in action over the past few weeks, cannot wait to see his return.

On Thursday, April 18, the Prince of Wales will visit Surrey and West London to spotlight the community and environmental impact organisations in the area are having through their work.

The heir to the throne will visit Surplus to Supper, a surplus food redistribution charity, where he will see how surplus food from across the local area is delivered, sorted and re-packaged for delivery.

He will then head to a youth centre in west London which receives regular deliveries of surplus food to find out how this helps young people.

Fans have rushed to social media to share their delight. On social media platform X, @joycerowe520528 said: “Welcome back William, you have been missed.”

@Scottisal wrote: “Splendid…the children have gone back to school and official engagements resume.”

Meanwhile well-wishers are seeing Prince William’s return to duty as a good sign Princess Kate is recovering well. @HollyJ1705 wrote: “It will be lovely to see him back. Hopefully, the Princess of Wales is recovering well.”

Meanwhile @hillbilly____, added: “Good to see him back on public duties.”

Prince William will undertake his first engagement since Kate revealed in an emotional video that she had been diagnosed with cancer. In her video message revealing the diagnosis, she said: “This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”

For the past few weeks William has been spending time with his wife and caring for their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis during their Easter holidays and the three will return to school on Wednesday April 17.

The Princess of Wales has melted hearts by responding to royal fans who have sent her cards during her recovery. She is currently withdrawing from royal duties as she undergoes preventative chemotherapy for an undisclosed type of cancer.

Protecting the environment for future generations is one of The Prince of Wales’s key priorities and in 2020 he launched The Earthshot Prize, a global environmental prize and platform to discover, award, celebrate and scale ground-breaking solutions to repair and regenerate the planet.

In 2021, The City of Milan won an Earthshot Prize in the ‘Build a Waste-Free World’ category for its innovative Food Hubs that collect excess food and distribute it to the communities who need it.

Reducing food waste, is also a key topic, William’s father, King Charles has championed in recent years. He has highlighted the considerable number of environmental benefits, including reducing emissions from landfill that contribute to climate change.
