Prince William,42, has given Royal Fans a glimpse into his family life by lifting the lid on Princess Charlotte’s, 10, new passion, and it is something she shares in common with her mum. Charlotte appears to have found a role model in the form of British 800m gold medal holder Keely Hodgkinson.

The Prince of Wales hinted Charlotte was interested in the sport he met the middle distance runner as he honoured guests at Windsor Castle yesterday. William told Keely how Charlotte, a keen runner, watched her win gold at the Paris Olympics last year and he “wished” he could have been there in person.

The Olympic hero was named in the New Year’s Honours list after winning gold.

Keely said “The Prince told me his daughter is doing the 400 metres and the hurdles and that she did watch me in Paris. He told me that he remembers me winning and wished to be there to see it himself.”

At the event Keely, who also won Sports Personality of the Year 2024, was seen laughing alongside the Prince of Wales as she received the honour.

The young runner added it was “really nice” to be honoured “by William” and the “whole experience has been amazing”.

Charlotte’s love for sports should come as no surprise as Princess Kate, 42, is one of the Royal Family’s sportiest members and is a lover of running.

Princess Charlotte also loves gymnastics, she “spends most of her time upside-down, doing handstands and cartwheels,” Kate once revealed.

Speaking to The Telegraph last October, Mike Tindall shared that the Princess of Wales, “loves her running” while Prince George,11, takes after his father, Prince William, and “loves his football”. The eldest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales is also known to enjoy tennis.

Prince George enjoys tennis. The young royal made his Wimbledon debut alongside his parents in 2022 and quickly got caught up in the on-court action.

But his interest started long before that, as proud mum Kate revealed. Back in 2017 during a visit to the Lawn Tennis Association, Kate shared that George had started to learn how to play tennis.
