Prince William receives huge blow as less people think he'll make a good King

Prince William received a huge blow as fewer Britons today think he would make a good King when he becomes monarch than nearly two years ago, the Daily Express can reveal.

In our latest exclusive IPSOS poll of 1,098 people, the Prince of Wales saw a significant drop of 12 percent in just nearly two years regarding the public’s trust in him, as only three in five think he would do a good job as a future monarch.

In March 2024, when asked about the extent, if at all, we think Prince William would do a good job or bad job as King, 62 percent of respondents said William would do a good job as a monarch, compared to 74 percent in May 2022.

Meanwhile, 24 percent stayed neutral, another increase from 2022 when the rating was 13 percent, whilst 8 percent said William will do a “bad job” as King.

This is a 1 percent increase from 2022’s 7 percent.

Elsewhere, our poll revealed the Prince of Wales remained the second most popular member of the Royal Family, with 60 percent favourability in March 2024, a 2 percent increase from January 2024.

Another 15 percent said they hold an unfavourable opinion of King Charles’s eldest son, whilst a 24 perecnt said they neither hold a favourable nor unfavourable opinion about him.

A 3 percent remained neutral saying they “don’t know”.

The future king followed his wife, the Princess of Wales who remained the most popular royal with her favourability rating remaining unchanged at 61 percent.

It comes after a difficult few weeks for Britain’s future monarch after his father and wife were diagnosed with a type of cancer.

Both Charles and Kate are currently undergoing treatment for their illness.

William had to adjust his schedule so he is able to carry out his royal duties as well as support his family.
