Prince William and Harry 'almost came to blows' in front of friends years before feud

Prince William and Prince Harry nearly had a physical fight over a project that was the future King’s ‘thing’, according to the Duke of Sussex in his memoir, Spare.

The book reveals that their relationship was filled with competitiveness and tension, much worse than what people thought.

The Duke of Sussex suggested that the roots of their estrangement can be traced back to their childhood.

He claimed that the issues between them were present for many years, long before they publicly acknowledged it.

In 2015, the brothers almost “came to blows”, despite the public perception of them being incredibly close.

At that time, Harry often joined his brother and sister-in-law, Kate, at events and even formed the Royal Foundation with William in 2009 for charity work.

Harry describes an incident in his memoir that highlights the issues between him and his brother, including the competitiveness between the ‘Heir’ and ‘Spare’.

The Duke wanted to expand his work on the climate crisis in Africa, but this led to a major disagreement as William allegedly claimed that Africa was his “thing” and told Harry to back off.

Harry wrote in his memoir: “He had the right to say this, or felt he did, because he was the Heir.

“It was ever in his power to veto my thing, and he had every intention of exercising, even flexing, that veto power.”
