Prince Louis beyond excited on Christmas outing due to telling gesture, expert says

Prince Louis proved that he couldn’t contain his excitement as he joined his fellow royals on the walk to Christmas Day service at Sandringham Church. The adorable five-year-old took part in the annual royal tradition for the second time this year.

As the family made their way to the service at St Mary Magdalene Church, one body language expert suggested that Louis appeared very excitable with one telling gesture.

Body language expert Judi James told the Mirror: “Louis, like most small children on Christmas morning, looked excited but also impatient.

“Zara’s daughter had been given the job of anchoring his left hand while William held onto his right and even then he looked so excited he was pulling on his dad’s arm to get into the service.”

Louis looked adorable as he showed off the sweet bond he and his siblings have with their young cousins, including nine-year-old Mia Tindall.

Ms James continued: “William placed a cupped hand on the back of Louis’s head in a gesture of affection but also of calming a child down.

“But even as he waited to do the greeting rituals with the clergy, Louis crossed one lower leg over the other as though keen to get launched into his Christmas Day.”

Other royals who joined the festive celebrations included the Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were also joined by their husbands for the Christmas tradition, as well as Princess Anne and her husband Sir Timothy Laurence.

Walking alongside ex-husband Prince Andrew and their two daughters, Sarah Ferguson also made a surprise appearance.

The King and Queen Camilla led the way, with Prince William and Princess Kate following close behind.

After the service, the family were all expected to gather for a Christmas lunch at the Sandringham estate.

Not joining their royal relatives was the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who opted to spend another Christmas in the US.

The couple, who stepped down as senior royals in 2020, were expected to spend Christmas in California with their children, Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two.

As well as not joining the royals at Sandringham, the King also didn’t mention his younger son and daughter-in-law in his Christmas Day speech. The couple also didn’t appear in any clips included in the speech – unlike Prince William and Princess Kate.
