Prince Harry's relationship with William will be harder to 'patch up', claims experts

On Tuesday’s instalment of GB News, royal expert Jennie Bond spoke to presenters Isabel Webster and Eamonn Holmes in regards to King Charles’ recent cancer diagnosis. With his youngest son flying into the UK to be with his family at this time, many are hopeful that this could mend their fractured relationship.

When discussing Prince Harry’s immediate return, Jennie said: “I think it’s just a son’s reaction to some pretty shocking news. Could this lead to a reconciliation? Not only with his dad, I think that’s pretty much on the cards, but possibly with William. Wiliam does need his brother right now.

“That’s going to be a tricker relationship to patch up. We can but hope, it didn’t happen when The Queen died, we thought it possibly would.”

The royal expert revealed even she thought the two brothers would come together when the late monarch died. She added: “It got worse if anything, but this time I think the hope must be a little higher.”

During their discussion, Jennie expressed her empathy for Prince William, whose wife Kate Middleton is also recovering from abdominal surgery.

She continued: “William must be looking his destiny in the eye rather more clearly right now.

“Right now is not the time he even wants to think about taking on the duty of monarch.”

In light of the King’s diagnosis, it’s believed The Prince of Wales will be returning to work and taking on more duties than he would’ve done initially during Katherine’s recuperation.

Isobel highlighted William could be feeling incredibly isolated during this period of time with all the health battles his family are facing.

Jennie added: “He must feel alone and he’s the youngest of all the working royals, I say all, there aren’t very many working royals, so a greater burden is falling on his shoulders.

“It’s a lonely place anyway, being a senior member of the royal family, it’s very lonely being monarch and being heir too. There aren’t many people you can talk to, confide in or befriend.

“That’s why I say that perhaps this is a time where he might feel he needs his brother, I just don’t know if that can be patched up but you would hope so.”

At the start of the week, Buckingham Palace released a statement confirming that The King has a form of cancer after undergoing diagnostic tests.

King Charles had initially had a hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement where a separate issue was noted.

Part of the statement reads: “His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties.”

Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel airs on weekdays on GB News from 6am.
