Prince Harry's relationship with Doria Ragland as she moves in to mansion: 'Needs space'

Prince Harry reportedly has a “close” relationship with Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland.

After what appeared to be a very rocky 2023 for the couple, Doria has stepped up and moved in to Meghan and Harry’s Montecito mansion.

Express.co.uk confirmed the news on Thursday, with a source stating that Harry is loving having his mother-in-law around to help with the home and the children.

The source said: “Harry adores her as well and loves having her there. There are times when he needs alone time, so Doria heads over to the guesthouse to make herself scarce when needed.”

The source added that Doria has basically become the “mother of the household” – which is something that Harry doesn’t mind.

They added: “Harry loves to be mothered so he finds Doria being there very refreshing.”

According to the source, even prior to the move, Harry shared a “close” relationship with his mother-in-law.

Amid the ongoing tensions with his own family back in the UK, Harry’s bond with Doria has been a welcomed distraction.

“Harry appreciates the warmth and kindness that Doria brings to the family,”, the source added.

The source also added: “[Harry] doesn’t get that from his side of the family and thinks it is important that the children are close with their grandmother.”

As well as being close with her son-in-law, Doria also reportedly shares a close bond with her grandchildren.

Doria has often been described as a “hands-on” grandparent and is known to have been very active in helping Harry and Meghan after the births of both of their children.

Doria’s stepmother, Ava Burrows, previously spoke of Doria’s then-pending role grandmother when Meghan was expecting her first child.

Ms Burrows told MailOnline: “In some families in the US, grandma is a big deal.

“Doria is very important to Meghan, and vice-versa. So I’m sure she wants to be a big part of her life, and her baby’s life. She’ll be a wonderful grandmother.”
