Prince Harry’s one wish Meghan Markle is ‘absolutely against’ laid bare

Even if Prince Harry was keen to return to the UK as a working royal, his wife Meghan Markle would be “absolutely against” the idea, according to a royal commentator.

In February this year, Harry made a surprise fleeting trip back to Britain to see King Charles after learning he had been diagnosed with cancer, leading to speculation he could be looking to spend more time over here.

He told Good Morning America that he had more trips to the UK planned, and with the number of available senior working royals taking a hit Harry was suggested as a potential stand-in for royal duties.

However, Buckingham Palace shut down any claims of a royal return for Harry, with author Tom Quinn agreeing that this possibility seems very far-fetched.

He told The Mirror earlier this year: “Harry knows he will never be allowed to be a permanent part-time working royal staying six months in the States and then six months in the UK.

“The family no longer trust him and, besides, Meghan is absolutely against it. There is far too much bad blood now for it to be even a remote possibility.”

Last week the news broke that Princess Kate too is set to undergo preventative chemotherapy after cancer was detected following her abdominal surgery in January.

At the time Kensington Palace said she would be away from public-facing royal duties until after Easter, as she takes time to recover with the support of her family and friends.

He explained: “Both Meghan and Harry still hope that at some point they might be asked back to become working royals on their own terms.

“It’s a rapidly shrinking possibility, but the couple have talked about this at length and the fact that senior royal numbers are seriously down at the moment has rekindled their hopes.

“As I understand it from Palace contacts, they are kidding themselves if they think they will be invited back in any way.”

The Duke of Sussex is set to be coming back to the UK in May for a service at St Paul’s Cathedral to celebrate ten years of the Invictus Games.
