Prince Harry’s brutal 5-word question to Princess Eugenie has been unpicked by a lip-reader. The royal, who has been living in the US with his family since 2020, cut a lonely figure as he travelled back to the UK on his own to attend King Charles’s coronation in London in May 2023.
During his visit, Harry appeared to stay close to his cousin Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, whom he is said to have remained close to amid the ongoing feud with the royals. As the family gathered outside of Westminster Abbey, a lip-reader analysed a clip of Harry talking to his cousin, where he asked her a heartbreaking question about his family.
In a new Channel 5 show, Lip-Reading The Royals: The Secret Conversations, a lip-reader claimed that Harry said to Eugenie, “I’ve spent five hours with my dad in his office and not a friendly text from either.”
Although it is unclear who he was talking about, King Charles and Queen Camilla or the Prince and Princess of Wales, Harry then, according to the expert, followed up by asking her: “Why hasn’t anybody contacted me?”
Eugenie, who was heavily pregnant with her second child at the time, responds with a sympathetic but cautious smile.
During an interview with the BBC back in May, which took place as the royal lost his appeal to reinstate security in the UK, Harry revealed that his father was no longer on speaking terms with him.
Addressing the bitter feud with his family, Harry said: “There is no point in continuing to fight anymore, life is precious.”
In a move that likely shocked the Palace, Harry then appeared to reference the King’s cancer diagnosis, saying: “I don’t know how much longer my father has”.
Harry and Meghan made the decision to stay away from royal duties in January 2020, relocating to the US just months later with their son Archie.
They have since welcomed their daughter Lilibet, in June 2021, and have settled in Montecito.
