Prince Harry’s blunt two-word reply to Meghan Markle in awkward Buckingham Palace moment

Prince Harry gave a blunt two-word response to Meghan Markle in a recently unearthed awkward moment on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Eagle-eyed royal fans spotted the tricky exchange between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during a flypast to mark the late Queen’s official birthday in 2019.

Meghan was seen turning round to talk to Harry as RAF jets flew overhead, but he shot her a quick glance and is said to have told her to “turn around”.

Lip reader Tina Lannin said near the time the Duke told his wife “no he hasn’t, oh fine, turn around”.

It was at a point when the National Anthem was heard, suggesting Harry wanted Meghan to face forwards and stand to attention.

Harry had a serious expression on his face during the exchange, while Meghan turned and smiled, yet looked slightly sheepish. Meghan had been a member of the Windsors for a year by that time so was still relatively new to royal traditions.

The Sussexes appeared at Trooping the Colour, which marks the official birthday of the British monarch. More than a thousand soldiers parade in June each year with the display of pageantry culminating in a flypast by the Royal Air Force as the royals look on from the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Photos from Trooping the Colour 2019 show Harry and Meghan beaming from the balcony, with the awkward exchange looking to be an exception to what appeared as a happy occasion.

The appearance came just months before the Sussexes stepped down as senior royals in January 2020, keeping their Sussex titles, but losing the HRH status.

Four years later and speculation is rife that Harry wants to return to the royal fold and carry out duties temporarily while his father King Charles steps back from public-facing duties for cancer treatment.

Meghan is reportedly set against the idea, while Harry is understood by some to be “very bored” with his life in California, where the couple now live with their children, Prince Archie Harrison and Princess Lilibet Diana.

Daily Mail diarist, Richard Eden, has claimed Prince William is also against Harry returning to royal duties and wants to stick to the terms of Harry and Meghan’s exit agreement.
