Prince Harry 'very upset' by High Court decision and may keep kids away from UK

Prince Harry is “very upset” by the High Court’s decision over his personal security in the UK, an expert has claimed.

The Duke of Sussex was stripped of his protection by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), governed by the Home Office, after leaving the UK in 2020. In July 2022 the Duke won the right to partially challenge the decision, but it was upheld at the High Court on Wednesday (February 28).

Royal expert Gertrude Daly of Gerts Royals told the Daily Star: “I think Prince Harry will be very upset by the outcome.”

“As far as what this affects, the Sussexes’ level of protection going forward will be the same they have had in the UK for the last few years.

“So I don’t think this will affect Prince Harry’s upcoming working visits to the UK for the Invictus Games or other things.

“However, she said, the decisions could affect whether Harry brings his brood across the pond in future. “I think those visits will be short and probably won’t involve his children.

“The decision really affects how much personal time Prince Harry and his family spend in the UK. But again, this is just an excuse to keep the children away and justify their lives in California.”

Daly continued: “No one is denying the Sussex family needs security. And they had judged that private security is generally sufficient and that they will receive police protection as needed when attending events.

“There are lots of public figures, celebrities, wealthy people who receive the same sort of threats to their lives, stalkers, etc. And the modern private security industry is well-equipped to handle this.”

Jonathan Sacerdoti, a commentator, agreed with her. He said: “This shouldn’t have any effect on Harry’s ability to come back to the UK because he can simply pay for security like other would-be celebrities who choose to live a high-profile lifestyle.

“If he feels that he’s in danger he could use some of the millions he’s making from his various book and Netflix deals.

He added: “I think most Brits would agree that we don’t want to spend our money on protecting him when he chose to leave the country and constantly undermine the Royal Family in public.

“When the royals are engaged in serving the country it’s different.”
