Prince Harry tipped for UK return with Archie and Lilibet 'so King can meet his grandkids'

Prince Harry is tipped to return to the UK for a longer visit with King Charles where the Monarch will meet his grandchildren face to face, a royal expert has predicted.

After the King announced his cancer diagnosis, Harry rushed back to the UK. However, the Duke of Sussex only visited with his father for 45 minutes before Charles left for Sandringham.

But royal and marketing expert Pauline Maclaran said the length of Harry’s visit was unsurprising.

Speaking to Daily Express US, she said: “I’m not surprised that Harry has only made a flying visit. I think he will have wanted to see his father face to face to offer his support but he will also not want to make the King’s health issue appear more serious by staying around.

“He is also likely to want to get back to his family in the US.”

Despite the short length of the visit, Ms Maclaran claimed that it was likely a step in the right direction for royal relations.

She added: “This does seem to be a very positive step in terms of developing better relations with his father.

“I imagine he may make a longer visit in due course to allow the King to meet his grandchildren face-to-face.”

The King has rarely seen his grandchildren – Prince Archie and Princess Lillibet – since Meghan Markle and Harry stepped back from senior royal duties in 2020 and moved to Montecito, California in the US.

On Monday, the Palace confirmed King Charles’s cancer diagnosis, which is not prostate cancer, was discovered while he was being treated in hospital for an enlarged prostate.

The King has started a schedule of regular treatments but has been advised to postpone his public-facing duties. The Palace did not confirm the type of cancer.

He will carry on working behind the scenes on state business and official papers and will return from Sandringham to London on Monday to commence treatment as an out-patient.

Harry was seen at London Heathrow after he visited with his father and is believed to have returned to the US.
