Prince Harry 'regretting his ignorance' as visa court case looms, claims royal expert

Prince Harry could be ruing his candid confessions as a legal storm brews after claims made in his memoir, a royal commentator has said.

The Duke of Sussex’s admissions in his explosive memoir ‘Spare’ have sparked a lawsuit from The Heritage Foundation, which is demanding transparency over his US visa application.

The conservative think tank alleges that Harry, 39, either lied about his past drug use on the visa form or received preferential treatment from American authorities.

In his book, Harry divulged past experiences with substances like cocaine, magic mushrooms, and cannabis, reports the Mirror.

Royal author Tom Quinn suggests that Harry is now “regretting his ignorance” in light of the impending court case.

He said: “Harry will be massively regretting his ignorance and naivety as the court case looms a court case that could lead to real difficulties for him.

“It’s another example of where Royals always rely on other people to make decisions for them because when they make decisions for themselves, they often get it wrong and Spare was very much Harry trying to be his own man and messing up.”

There was fury when Harry confessed to using drugs, including cocaine, in his memoir Spare which was released in 2023, three years after he had his visa to live in the US granted.

The Heritage Foundation has now filed a lawsuit to investigate if the Duke of Sussex misled authorities on his visa application, while the Department of Homeland Security is keeping the documents under wraps due to privacy issues.

Quinn says the prince could be feeling distressed while the lawsuit rumbles on in Washington D.C.

He added: “He may get special treatment, but his upcoming court case could just as easily jeopardise his status in the States.

“He could even be asked to leave the country if what he said on his immigration forms fails to match his claims in Spare. According to the couple’s friends, Harry is horribly stressed but as ever he has hired the best lawyers money can buy.”

Quinn also said that Harry’s candidness about his drug history in his book was a naive move, not foreseeing the potential visa complications.

“It would never have occurred to Harry that being really open about his drug use in Spare might lead to problems with his US Visa application,” Quinn added.

“He’s incredibly naive having grown up in a world where everything is done for you and you are automatically given advice and leant on to do the right thing.”

The Royal commentator has blamed Meghan Markle for instilling Prince Harry with a newfound sense of self-assurance, which led to his bombshell revelations in his autobiography.

He said: “But with Meghan he suddenly found he could decide what he wanted to do and say without checking with anyone except his wife, and he blundered.

“He found the freedom exhilarating but didn’t realise it was also dangerous and he may now pay the price.”

Activists from the Heritage Foundation are intensifying their calls for the disclosure of Prince Harry’s visa records following comments by US Ambassador Jane Hartley, who assured that the Duke would not face deportation under President Joe Biden’s administration.

The statement came in response to former president Donald Trump’s declaration that he would expel Harry, as he would any other individual, if it were discovered they had been dishonest on their visa application.
