Prince Harry melted hearts on Monday night after he made a rare admission about an initiative for one of his charities. The Duke of Sussex attended the WellChild awards in London, which celebrate the efforts of seriously ill youngsters to succeed and thrive despite life-threatening conditions.
During an interview with Hello! Magazine backstage, Harry revealed that the charity is now coordinating date nights for its children’s parents, and royal fans could not get enough. Harry said: “[It’s] the courage of the kids, but often the parents get left out of the conversation.
“So we’re doing as much as we can to encourage, or to make it possible for these parents to go on date nights, to be able to get some relief.”
He concluded: “I’m just really happy that this charity is still going strong.” The Duke of Sussex has been patron of WellChild for 17 years.
Royal fans were impressed with Prince Harry’s initiative and took to social media to praise him.
One user called him an “absolute gem,” saying: “OMG [emotional face emoji] Prince Harry is coordinating date nights for the parents of the Well Child organization! (sic) This man is an absolute gem!”
Another user added: “And I thought I couldn’t love the dude any more than I already did.”
A third one said: “When you actually care and take your job seriously beyond a photo op. They can NEVER make me hate #GoodKingHarry”
A fourth one commented: “Harry has an amazing wife that epitomizes a modern day princess! I bet it was her idea for real. And the fact that he’s on board with it is great! I hope date night brings a little smile and joy to those parents.”
A fifth fan wrote: “Of course Harry would think to unite parents in date nights. He’s a natural healer with a heart of gold. #GoodKingHarry.”
