Prince Harry was seen getting emotional after the Canadian Prime Minster Justin Trudeau’s speech about his work and dedication to the Invictus Games.
The 53-year-old sent a powerful message to attendees at the 2025 tournament – but didn’t fail to praise the founder of the Games for all of his hard work.
Taking to the stage, he said: “To the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, without whom these Invictus Games would never have happened. You are the one who turned this incredible idea into a reality.”
Amid a rapturous applause from the audience, he continued: “As someone you roped in early in my time as Prime Minister, I can testify to the energy, the dedication, the commitment this man has to you and to this ideal.”
As Justin spoke, Harry – who founded the Games in 2014 – was seen looking visibly moved.
In his speech, Justin also honoured the inspirational athletes. He said: “It is just such an honor to be here because the Invictus Games are about more than competition; they’re about perseverance in the face of adversity, and they are about the strength and resilience of the human spirit.
“It’s about not letting an injury, whether it be physical or mental, define who you are or what you can accomplish. It’s about inspiring your fellow veterans, your fellow compatriots who have or are putting their lives on the line to defend our values, our liberty, our freedom; it’s about all of you… Each and every one of you is an inspiration.”
With the Duchess of Sussex, 43, having flown home to California on Tuesday, Harry was left to see the final days of the annual tournament through on his own.
It was speculated that Meghan had decided to fly home to be with their two children – five-year-old Prince Archie and three-year-old Princess Lilibet. Whilst their parents were in Canada, Archie and Lilibet were being looked after at home in Montecito.
