Prince Harry had to apologise for an awkward reason as Meghan Markle gave birth to Archie

In a candid admission, Prince Harry has shared a humorous blunder from when Meghan Markle was in labour with their son Archie.

The Duke of Sussex and Duchess of Sussex, celebrated the arrival of their firstborn, Archie, on 6 May 2019.

Ahead of the birth, an anxious Harry sought to ease his nerves, inadvertently using up the laughing gas intended for Meghan.

Recounting the tale in his tell-all book, ‘Spare’, Harry describes how Meghan was utilising a large purple exercise ball to help speed up the labour process, while he indulged in “several slow, penetrating hits” of the gas, reports the Mirror.

In ‘Spare’, Harry writes: “Meg, bouncing on a giant purple ball, a proven way of giving Nature a push, laughed and rolled her eyes. I took several more hits and now I was bouncing too.”

However, when it came time for Meghan to use the gas as her contractions intensified, they discovered an empty canister, leading to an awkward moment where Harry had to sheepishly apologise for depleting the supply.

He shares: “When her contractions began to quicken, and deepen, a nurse came and tried to give some laughing gas to Meg.

“There was none left. The nurse looked at the tank, looked at me, and I could see the thought slowly dawning: Gracious, the husband’s had it all. Sorry, I said meekly.”

In a humorous twist, Meghan couldn’t help but chuckle when a canister needed replacing during an event, with Harry quipping: “The nurse had to laugh, and quickly changed the canister.”

Archie is set to celebrate his fifth birthday this coming Monday, and it’s widely anticipated that King Charles will extend his best wishes to his grandson.

Royal commentator Tom Quinn shared insights with The Mirror, revealing: “King Charles dislikes new technology, but is desperate to keep in touch with his grandchildren on the other side of the Atlantic so he will certainly call Harry and wish Archie Happy Birthday.

“Charles been asking about video calling, but according to his aides, he’s uncomfortable with the idea. If he makes an ordinary telephone call to Harry it means he can have a quick word with Archie without the need to talk to Meghan, a prospect that fills him with dread.”
