Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are bracing for a new bombshell documentary that’s set to hit the screens next week about what’s previously been dubbed a “slap in the face” on their part.
The Daily Express recently revealed that Germany’s ZDF network will air a new documentary film about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, called Harry – The Lost Prince – which will premiere on December 3 at 8:15 pm.
The new film will investigate Harry and Meghan’s life after stepping down as senior working members of the Royal Family and their life in Montecito, California.
According to the German broadcaster, it will explore Harry’s struggles following his decision to leave the Firm and his “ongoing search for a meaningful role and the broader impact of this on the British monarchy”.
The Sussexes left the Royal Family in 2020 in what’s been now named as “Megxit” by many royal watchers.
At the time, several of Germany’s media were critical of the couple’s decision to step down.
According to the Mail, the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper said: “Meghan and Harry’s decision is an affront to tradition and the expectations of the British public.”
Die Welt newspaper said: “The withdrawal of Harry and Meghan is a slap in the face of the monarchy and its supporters.”
But by 2023, when Germany hosted Harry’s Invictus Games, the country had warmed up to the couple.
Meanwhile, the German broadcaster said of its new bombshell doc: “The Royal Family has to deal with difficult developments and regroup after ‘Megxit,’ the death of the Queen and Charles and Kate’s cancer. What role will Harry play in the future?
“Even in his self-imposed exile in Montecito, California, he remains a figure of public interest.
“His commitment to charitable organisations – such as the Invictus Games he founded for wounded servicemen and women – always puts him in the spotlight.”
