Prince Harry and Meghan to be 'losers in every sense' if Netflix deal collapses

Brand Sussex took an absolute pummelling in 2023 – and now a royal expert has warned they could be “losers in every sense” if they lose their Netflix contract.

Many royal commentators have weighed in on how 2024 could be make or break for Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle in Hollywood.

And now one royal expert has said that the clock is ticking and the pair run the risk of losing everything they have worked for if they lose their major TV deal with the streaming giant.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told The Sun: “If you simply trash your family, which is the only time it does seem to mean that you get megabucks, and do nothing else, then you must expect people not to take you seriously.”

He pointed out that the pair’s deal with Netflix is set to expire in 2025 – and said that they need to pull some ideas out of the bag soon.

He said: “If they lost that, they really would be losers in every sense.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed with the popular streaming service in 2020 – shortly after stepping down as senior working royals.

The couple have only released three projects with Netflix so far, including their explosive docuseries in December 2022.

Meghan and Harry are said to be working on various projects but so far none have been officially announced.

Mr Fitzwilliams also spoke to GB News saying that there is still a chance for the pair to make good of Hollywood dreams.

He said: “They can turn it around if they come up with some work. The only thing they are doing as far as I can see with Invictus, Prince Harry already had that.”

He added: “So they have not done anything, they lost Spotify. Will they lose Netflix? The contract runs out in 2025. It is rather bewildering their silence.”

The back end of 2023 saw a barrage of negative headlines clock up for the Sussexes.

From the release of journalist Omid Scobie’s controversial book Endgame through to Harry’s court battle to have his taxpayer security detail restored – it’s all played out in the court of public opinion.

A crisis manager said that 2024 could be the “undoing” of the couple’s brand if a new path isn’t forged.

Mark Borkowski told MailOnline: “Something is beginning to unwind at the heart of Meghan and Harry. I think 2024 is going to be seismic, either because they’re going to do something to recover and find a new positive tactic or it’s going to be the undoing of the brand.”
