Prince Harry and Meghan tipped to reunite with Royal Family in the New Year

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will reunite with King Charles, a royal expert has told GB News. Ingrid Stewart told the broadcaster that the couple “need the King and his blessing far more than the King needs them,” and that they will see him next year.

She added: “Obviously King Charles wants to see his son and his grandchildren, and last summer he apparently invited them to Balmoral, which they turned down.”

Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan are said to have enjoyed a lowkey Christmas at their home in Montecito, California with their children.

The Duke of Sussex spoke of Christmas away from the royals in his tell-all Spare memoir earlier this year. He explained that he and his wife Meghan bought a “magnificent” tree for their home, adding that they purchased “one of the biggest spruces” and decorated it with a very special ornament that paid tribute to his family in the UK.

The Sussexes last spent Christmas with the royals back in 2018, before the couple had their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, with the pair said to have joined Queen Elizabeth II for her annual lunch at Buckingham Palace on December 19.

The lunch came seven months after the couple got married in Windsor in their royal wedding.

Princess Diana’s confidant Paul Burrell previously said that there was no chance Harry would visit his father King Charles without permission.

Burrell said to The Mirror that Prince Harry “knows the rules”, and though he could, he would not visit his family without a formal invitation.

“He knows the regulations, he knows the protocols,” Burrell says. “He knows that even though he could probably drive up to Kensington Palace and go through the police because he’s a prince. And he could probably knock on Kate and William’s door.

“But he knows that’s not what he should do. Because he won’t go anywhere near a royal residence and he will not bother the Royals unless he’s invited in.”
