Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Royal Family feud can't be fixed with 'just one reunion'

A relationships expert has said that Prince Harry’s ongoing turmoil with the Royal Family cannot be fixed with “just one reunion”.

After speculation gathered that he and his wife Meghan Markle may spend Christmas in the UK, the couple are believed to have spent the holidays in the US with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The royal duo have not spent Christmas with the wider family since 2018, the year they got married. They later left their royal roles in March 2020.

In 2019, the pair reportedly opted to miss the annual celebrations at Sandringham in favour of spending Christmas with Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland, and they have not attended a royal Christmas since.

But one royal expert has said that given the huge rift that has emerged between the Sussexes and the family, it is unlikely that the estranged relationship can be fixed with just one Christmas reunion.

Relationships expert Louella Alderson, founder of the SoSynced dating app, said: “With the recent media attention Meghan, Harry and the Royal Family have been receiving with the release of the book, it would be surprising if either side of the family would want to spend Christmas together.

“It’s a time for families to come together and celebrate, but with tension and hurt feelings still present, it may not be the best environment for reconciliation.”

She added: “While this continues, it would be unlikely that Meghan, Harry and the Royal Family would be ready to reconcile or celebrate together.”

Alderson said it is likely to take much more than a simple visit for the Sussexes and the likes of King Charles and Prince William, to repair their relationship.

“Resolving potential tensions would likely take much more than just one-holiday celebration,” she said.

“It would require open and honest communication, understanding, and empathy from both sides.

“It’s not impossible for tensions to ease and for relationships to heal over time if both parties are willing to put in effort and work towards mending their relationship.”

She also added that the reconciliation between them shouldn’t be rushed: “Rushing something like this for the sake of appearances or to appease the media wouldn’t be beneficial in the long run.

“The relationship only appears to be getting more strained as time goes on, so it’s important for everyone involved to take the time they need to heal and address any underlying issues before attempting to reconcile, let alone celebrate holidays together.”
