Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 'awkward moment' seated with 'less distinguished' guests

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry seemed a bit miffed as they made a surprise appearance at the premiere of a new Bob Marley biopic in the iconic singer’s hometown.

The Sussexes joined strings of other celebrities on the red carpet alongside the cast and crew of Bob Marley: One Love but were reportedly expecting to be the guests of honour at the lavish event.

One local blogger from Kingston, Jamaica captured the pair on camera as they were shown to their seats inside the cinema, seemingly a bit disgruntled that they had been placed in a row with “less distinguished guests”.

Public relations expert Lynn Carratt told The Mirror that she had found the “awkward” moment quite “amusing” and claimed the couple “looked a bit put out” as they had to sit in row eight.

She claimed: “Meghan likely thought they would be the guests of honour,” and would have been upset that she and her husband didn’t get a “prime seat”.

As the video made the rounds on social media, countless other viewers analysed Prince Harry and Meghan’s body language, with some claiming the Prince was “picking his beard” because he was so uncomfortable.

One declared they were “so embarrassed” for the couple, particularly since they had both dressed to the nines whilst some other attendees opted for far more casual attire.

Lynn also highlighted Meghan’s glamorous Carolina Herrera dress, insinuating that the mother-of-two may have been expecting more time in front of the cameras saying: “I also bet she was very uncomfortable sitting in that dress for the whole film.”

Daily Express has contacted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s representatives for comment.

On the red carpet, Harry and Meghan had been the perfect picture of Hollywood royalty as they elegantly posed alongside some other attendees including the Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness and Nickelodeon CEO Brian Robbins.

Prince Harry opted for a smart midnight blue blazer over a white button-up and matching dress trousers while Meghan made the most of the tropical climate, even in winter, as she paired a floor-length black skirt with a low-cut spaghetti-strapped camisole.

However, fans of the formerly royal couple were far more focused on Meghan’s jewellery as her engagement ring came out of hiding for the star-studded event.

For most of last year the Duchess was seen without the diamonds from Princess Diana’s jewellery collection with theories claiming the ring was being fixed, had been lost or was simply being kept out of the public eye for safekeeping.
