Prince Harry and Meghan Markle urged to 'tone down' luxury lifestyle

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry should “tone down” their lavish lifestyles and stop “showing off”.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s popularity with the British public is still struggling, despite their best efforts to revive their brand.

Since moving to America in 2020 after stepping back from royal duties, the Sussexes have taken part in several projects in which they have been highly critical of key members of the Royal Family which has not gone down well.

But now a PR expert has given advice on how the pair can turn things around in the UK.

Lynn Carratt, a public relations expert from Press Box PR, believes that to relate to the British public they must stop the hypocrisy – such as campaigning for the environment whilst using private jets.

And she also says that they need to curb their spending habits to try and relate more to the people they are trying to help.

According to the Mirror, she said: “If Meghan and Harry are set on building their popularity up, there needs to be some consistency and authenticity running across their brand as a couple.

“They need to become more relatable to the British public, Meghan could consider toning down her use of designer labels and opting for frugal options, like Kate.

“Showing herself as a normal working mum who is facing the same challenges as others would also help.

She went on to say the public “often dislikes the hypocrisy of the couple showing off their privileged life” when trying to relate to those less fortunate such as their use of private jets “whilst campaigning for climate change.”

The advice comes as Prince Harry continues to be criticised after pursuing a case against the Home Office in an attempt to gain back taxpayer funded security protection.

Senior Tory MP Daniel Kawczynski slammed Prince Harry for costing UK taxpayers over £500,000 in his High Court case against the Home Office.

The MP for Shrewsbury and Atcham said Harry and his wife Meghan Markle had “abandoned our nation” when they stepped down as working royals in 2020, later moving to California.

In February 2020 the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) ruled that they would not offer Harry security while in the UK as his status as a non-working royal made him exempt, a decision Harry tried to overturn but failed to do so this year.
