Prince Harry and Meghan Markle urged to 'go back to basics' to boost damaged reputation

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will face an “important” year ahead as they try to build their brand and boost their popularity, a culture expert has claimed. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex quit their royal duties in 2020 and have been estranged from the Royal Family ever since.

Harry and Meghan made a series of claims against their royals since then through interviews, their Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan as well as the Duke’s memoir, Spare.

While their ongoing rift with the Firm has been deepening, things were seemingly getting better after Harry spoke with his father King Charles on his birthday and reportedly sent him a video of his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, wishing him a happy birthday.

Sources even claimed the couple would be willing to accept a Christmas invitation this year but then Omid Scobie’s explosive book was released back in November, pausing any chances of reconciliation between the two camps.

Recently, increasingly more polls suggested their reputation in the UK as well as the US has been plummeting. Now culture expert Nick Ede claimed Harry and Meghan have a lot of work to do to repair their image and the new year will be a “crossroads” for them.

He told New! magazine: “They need to take a step back and understand what their value is and how their brand can support others in a noncontroversial way.”

The expert suggested the couple need to “go back to basics” and concentrate on one element of their career instead of “spreading themselves too thin”.

He added: “Next year is an important year for them, and they will need to establish themselves properly.

“They have to go back to basics. Meghan needs to concentrate on lifestyle, beauty, fashion and acting, and Harry on the Invictus Games and being a father figure and mentor to many.”
